Xiaomi is preparing its own Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 level 5G chipset
Xiaomi plans to release its own 5G chipset in the first half of 2025. This chipset is being developed in collaboration with Unisoc and will be manufactured using TSMC's 4nm N4P process.
Here's What We Know
According to whistleblower Yogesh Brar the new chipset will deliver performance on par with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was used in the 2021 and 2022 flagship devices. This is not Xiaomi's first experience in developing its own processors. In 2017, the company launched the Mi 5c smartphone with the Surge S1 chipset.
