OmniVision has announced a new 50-megapixel sensor, the OV50M40.

Here's What We Know

The module supports stepped HDR and dual analogue gain (DAG) HDR technology with single exposure, phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) in binning modes. The OV50M40 boasts either 2x or 3x optical zoom.

The OV50M40 supports full resolution shooting at 50 MP at 12 fps and 12.5 MP at 60 fps. The camera is also capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps and 1080p at 120fps.

The OV50M40 module will be available to OEMs in Q3 2024. Mass production of the sensor is scheduled for Q4.
