Slovakia to strengthen its air defence with Israeli Barak MX systems
The Slovak government has approved the purchase of six mobile air defence systems from Israel worth more than €550 million.
Here's What We Know
Although the specific name of the system to be purchased was not mentioned in the official announcement, previous statements indicate that Slovakia has started negotiations to purchase the Barak MX medium-range mobile air defence system from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI)
The Barak MX is known for its flexibility and ability to intercept a variety of airborne targets. Thus, the system will significantly enhance Slovakia's defence capabilities.
Currently, Slovakia operates the Soviet-era 2K12 KUB medium-range system, which has already reached the end of its service life.
