Excellent remake of the cult RTS: critics praised Age of Mythology: Retold
In a few days Age of Mythology: Retold, which is a remake of the famous strategy game from 2002, will be released.
The fantasy spin-off Age of Empires is dedicated to the battles of mythological creatures and deities of Scandinavian, Greek and Egyptian Pantheons and was considered one of the best RTS of its time, but it seems that the new version will please fans even more.
Here's What We Know
Critics have published reviews for Age of Mythology: Retold and they say that World's Edge Studios did a great job updating the classic. The remake offers the same complex and addictive gameplay, involving precise control of unique units in large-scale battles that require concentration and forethought.
What was good in the original game is even better in the remake, and in addition to that the game offers impressive graphics, excellent detail, improved interface, modern controls and support for current features.
The developers have brought Age of Mythology closer to the level of the most popular RTS of recent years, so the game feels more like a new project than a remake.
Some reviewers have noted minor issues with artificial intelligence, but they are confident that this flaw will be fixed soon after release.
Otherwise, it's a great game, as evidenced by the scores on the aggregators:
- Metacritic - 84 points on PC and 78 on Xbox;
- Opencritic - 82 points with 83% of recommendations.
When We Can Expect It
Age of Mythology: Retold will release on 4 September 2024 on PC and Xbox Series, and will be available on Game Pass.
