Meta opens Horizon Worlds for teens with new parental control features

Meta has announced the opening of Horizon Worlds for teenagers with parental approval. Users aged 10 to 12 will be able to participate in VR games and explore worlds such as the Space Station or the Citadel.

Here's What We Know

Each world has an age category of 10+, 13+, or 18+, and those 17 years old or younger will not be able to choose adult worlds.

Parents will have the option to approve all worlds in a certain age group, select specific ones, or wait for a request from their child.

Additional security features include disabled voice chat, no subscription offers, and automatic offline status settings. All teen accounts will have a permanent personal boundaries feature that will prevent other avatars from getting too close.

Despite these measures, Meta has faced criticism from lawmakers and the public, who claim that the company is not paying adequate attention to the safety of teens on its platforms.
