Tesla is preparing a seven-seater Model Y for China and Europe: sales are expected to start in October

Tesla plans to launch a seven-seater version of the Model Y in the Chinese and European markets in October. According to rumours, production may have already begun at the Gigafactory in Shanghai, although there has been no official confirmation.

Here's What We Know

The move could help Tesla boost sales, as sales of their best-selling car fell 7% in the second quarter of 2024.

The seven-seater version of the Model Y was first introduced in 2019, but only became available in the US in 2021. This model has already been certified for the European market.

The new model in China will weigh 45 kg more than the five-seater version and will cost $2,000 more.

The popularity of the Model Y in China, where 298,384 units have been sold since the beginning of the year, may contribute to the success of the new version.
