Flashback
FGM-148 Javelin is a portable anti-tank missile system developed for the US Army by Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. Javelin is designed to engage armoured targets, including tanks, armoured personnel carriers, as well as fortified positions and low-flying helicopters.
The system is equipped with an infrared homing head that allows the operator to acquire a target and launch the missile, followed by autonomous targeting. The Javelin missile has two phases of flight: direct and overhead attack, which allows it to effectively hit tanks at their most vulnerable point - the upper armour.
The Javelin has proven to be a reliable and highly effective weapon in a variety of combat conditions. It is actively used in the armed forces of the US and its allies, including Ukraine.
