Visions of Mana's successful release won't save developers from layoffs: Bloomberg reported on NetEase Corporation's plans to shut down Ouka Studios

Just yesterday Ouka Studios, also known as Sakura Studios, released the highly regarded JRPG Visions of Mana, delighting fans of the series who have been waiting 18 years for a sequel. But it turns out, a successful release won't keep the developers from potential closure.

Here's What We Know

According to Bloomberg, the Chinese corporation NetEase intends to close the studio Ouka in the near future.

According to journalists, layoffs in the studio have been taking place for a long time and at the moment it left a small team, which was tasked to complete all planned projects and look for a new job.

It is reported that NetEase is not interested in further investment in Japanese companies and intends to reduce its presence in the Land of the Rising Sun.

By the way, the same strategy is followed by another Chinese giant - Tencent. According to Bloomberg, not least such a decision is connected with hopes for the Chinese market, the potential of which was demonstrated by the successful release of Black Myth: Wukong. Recall, three days after the release action sales exceeded 10 million copies.

Both NetEase and Tencent declined to comment to Bloomberg, limiting themselves to vague phrases about the attachment of the chosen strategy.
