The US Department of State has authorised the sale of eight HIMARS missile systems to Croatia, along with the necessary equipment.
Here's What We Know
The estimated value of the deal could be $390 million. The Office of Military Cooperation of the US Department of Defence also said that along with the systems, they will provide related services and equipment.
Croatia will receive eight HIMARS M142 systems, 24 GMLRS guided missile launchers and the same number of M31A2 unitary high explosive warhead missile launchers.
In addition, the Balkan country will receive 10 HMMWVs and 36 GPS receivers, as well as the necessary software, simulators and training for its military.
The contract for the purchase of HIMARS may be signed by the end of 2024. Earlier it was reported that negotiations on the purchase of these systems lasted about two years. It is worth noting that in recent years, Croatia has begun to modernise its army more actively and purchase US-made weapons.
