Google is finally releasing Android 15, but not for regular users

Today, after months of developer previews and public beta tests, Android 15 is finally ready. It's stable and released, but only to developers for now.

Here's What We Know

Google has uploaded the Android 15 source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but updates for users aren't ready yet, not even for Pixel smartphones. The September update, which started rolling out today for Google smartphones, is still based on Android 14.

Android 15 will become available for Pixel devices, including the recently released Pixel 9 series, "in the coming weeks," Google promises. Devices from Samsung, Honor, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sony, vivo and Xiaomi will get the update "in the coming months".

It was previously reported that Android 15 won't arrive on Pixel devices until October, and Google seems to have confirmed this without saying so directly. In the meantime, developers can already learn and work with the AOSP code.
