In addition, a clinical-grade hearing aid mode will be introduced, allowing users to take a clinically validated hearing test using AirPods and iPhone. The test results can be viewed in the Health app.
If hearing problems are detected, users will be able to activate the hearing aid mode, which will make it easier to perceive sounds from the environment. A special hearing profile will be automatically adjusted to improve the quality of listening to music or podcasts.
The hearing aid feature is currently undergoing a certification process through the FDA and other regulatory agencies. Apple said it will be available in more than 100 countries via a free software update for the AirPods Pro 2.
