Legendary actor James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader and Mufasa, has passed away

It was he who gave his voice to one of the most recognisable characters of world cinema - Darth Vader.

James Earl Jones began his career on the big screen in 1963 with the film "Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" by Stanley Kubrick.

During his long acting life, James Earl Jones has appeared in many famous films and TV series, including Conan the Barbarian, Ride to America, Patriot Games, and Dr House.

His voice is spoken by Mufasa from The Lion King and a number of characters on The Simpsons.

In 2011, James Earl Jones won an honorary Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography.
