Targeted advertising in a new way: Ford wants to patent technology to analyse conversations in its cars

Ford has filed a patent application for technology that will analyse driver and passenger conversations in a car to show targeted advertising.

The system, called in-car ad presentation, will track the car's location, speed, road type and traffic jams. The technology will be able to predict the routes and endpoints of journeys to tailor the most relevant adverts.

The system will collect data from audio signals inside the car and historical user data to select adverts to show during the journey. By analyzing the dialogues between people in the car, the system will be able to determine when it is better to show audio or visual ads through the car's interface.

Some users have expressed concerns about the invasion of privacy and possible distractions while driving. However, Ford claims that the technology will help make advertising more personalised and useful to drivers.
