Gamers will be sad: analyst is sure that even on PS5 Pro GTA VI won't have 60 fps support.

Long before the PS5 Pro was unveiled, analysts were actively discussing it and trying to figure out what games it was designed for, and one of the main reasons to buy the new console was the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.

The game was supposed to run at 60 fps and with improved graphics relative to the base model PS5, but it seems that this version does not correspond to reality.

Here's What We Know

IGN editorial staff contacted Digital Foundry technical specialist Richard Leadbetter and his conclusion will upset those who were going to buy a PlayStation 5 Pro for a more comfortable GTA VI experience:

Grand Theft Auto games have always used complex simulations that put a heavy load on the CPU, which is why all GTAs originally ran at 30 fps (or lower!) on target platforms. The PS5 Pro has the same CPU as the PS5, and it will be very difficult to achieve 60 fps if the base PS5 version is designed for 30 fps. It's not the GPU that's the problem, it's the CPU.

What you will see is better graphics, but probably at the same frame rate. If GTA VI doesn't deliver a stable 30 fps (and GTA IV and V on PS3 and Xbox 360 didn't), PS5 Pro will be able to overclock the CPU frequency by 10%, so maybe we'll get more stable performance.

Well, GTA VI might not have 60 fps support on PS5 Pro, but Sony has already stated that by the time the console goes on sale, around 50 games will get improved versions and the list will be growing.

When We Can Expect It

PlayStation 5 Pro will go on sale on 7 November, but the release date for GTA VI has not yet been named. The developer promises to release the game in autumn 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series.
