Do the iPhone 15 Pro cases fit the new iPhone 16 Pro?
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro are already available for pre-order, and with their arrival on the market, the design has changed, which will affect compatibility with accessories. Let's take a look at why old accessories may not work with the iPhone 16.
Here's What We Know
iPhone sizes: 15 vs. 16
iPhone 15:
- iPhone 15: 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm
- iPhone 15 Plus: 160.9 x 77.8 x 7.8 mm
- iPhone 15 Pro: 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25 mm
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.25 mm
iPhone 16:
- iPhone 16: 147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8 mm
- iPhone 16 Plus: 160.9 x 77.8 x 7.8 mm
- iPhone 16 Pro: 149.6 x 71.5 x 8.25 mm
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 163 x 77.6 x 8.25 mm
At first glance, the changes in size may seem minor, but several other innovations mean that iPhone 15 cases are not suitable for the new models:
- A new action button: The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have ditched the traditional mute switch in favour of a new action button.
- Updated camera protrusion: The camera is now positioned vertically, not diagonally as in previous models.
- New Camera Control button: It's now on the right side of all new iPhone models.
- Larger displays and smaller bezels: The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have larger screens (6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively) with smaller bezels.
The iPhone 15 cases will not be compatible with the iPhone 16. However, a wide range of new iPhone 16 cases are available now at different prices.
