Google Meet may get notes feature with Gemini on smartphones
Google may extend its new Take Notes with Gemini feature to mobile devices, giving users the ability to receive automatic meeting summaries directly from their smartphones. Currently, the feature is only available in the web version of Google Meet.
Here's What We Know
Recently, lines were found in the code of the Gmail for Android app that hinted at the possible launch of this feature on mobile devices.
- Automatic meeting summaries: Gemini will provide a summary of the conversation and create a detailed transcript that can be added to a shared notes document.
- Integration with Google Calendar and Google Drive: Notes will be automatically saved and shared with participants via these services.
- Real-time tracking: During the meeting, users will receive notifications about the status of their notes, such as "Gemini is taking notes".
- English language support only: For now, Gemini will only be able to take notes for English, with other languages coming later.
This option can greatly simplify meeting management for users who actively use mobile devices. However, it's worth remembering that the accuracy of automatic summaries can vary, and problems with background noise or accents can affect the quality of notes.
Currently, Take Notes with Gemini is only available to Google Workspace users with certain add-ons, but it may become available to everyone in the future.
