Nothing releases Nothing OS 2.6 update for Nothing Phone (1)

Nothing has announced the release of Nothing OS 2.6 update for owners of Nothing Phone (1) smartphones. This update, previously available for the Phone (2) and Phone (2a) models, brings a new Android security patch for September 2024, as well as a number of new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

Here's What We Know

New features

  • The ability to open a pop-up window by swiping down on incoming notifications for easy access to information without leaving the app. Enable it in Settings, System, Pop-up window.
  • Select vibration for third-party applications during calls. Switch on in Settings, Sound and vibration, Vibration.
  • Battery and pedometer widgets can now be displayed on the lock screen and always on the display.

Bug fixes and improvements

  • Improved NFC stability for more reliable connectivity.
  • Improved Bluetooth tile switching speed in quick settings and Bluetooth now displays correct headphone information
  • Fixed an issue with the flashlight widget not appearing in the quick settings.
  • Fixed some cloned apps automatically shifting even when this feature was disabled.
  • Fixed an issue with the media player widget not playing music when switching from guest to main user.

The Nothing OS 2.6 update is being rolled out gradually, so it may take a few days for it to become available to all users. To check for the update, go to Settings, System, System Update.

Nothing OS 3.0, based on Android 15, is expected to be released in September 2024, bringing new features including updated Quick Settings, improved lock screen customisation, improved fingerprint unlocking, new gesture navigation, app archiving, and predictive animations.
