Google launches a new Google Play collections widget that shows suggestions based on your preferences
Google has introduced a new Google Play Collections widget for Android smartphones and tablets in the US. The widget, announced a few months ago, is now available for all devices with Google Play version 42.5.15.
Here's What We Know
It collects content from the Google Play Market, other Google services and partner apps, offering recommendations for apps, games and entertainment. The widget is available in two styles, Compact Panel and Recommendations Feed. The Compact Panel shows recommendation categories, while the Ribbon takes up almost the entire home screen, displaying app and game icons, as well as product and video thumbnails.
Recommendations are divided into categories: 'Game', 'Food', 'Listen', 'Read', 'Shopping', 'Social Media' and 'Watch'. When you tap on a category, the feed opens in full-screen mode. The widget also includes an "App Library" tab that shows all installed apps automatically categorised. It is still unclear when the new widgets will be available in other countries and if they will be available at all.
