Photographer tests the iPhone 16 Pro camera and captures breathtaking macro shots in Kenya
Travel photographer Austin Mann shared his experience of testing the new iPhone 16 Pro camera system during a trip to Kenya. He tried out the new camera features, including a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and updated audio recording features, as well as a new macro mode.
Here's What We Know
One of the most interesting new features of the iPhone 16 Pro is the ability to use the ultra-wide camera for macro photography with a resolution of 48 megapixels. Mann notes that this may become his new favourite camera for macro photography due to the excellent detail.
He also tried out the new Camera Control button for quicker access to the camera. Unlike the Taptic Engine simulations, the new button is mechanically pressed, making it comfortable to use even when wearing gloves. He notes that this button significantly speeds up the shooting process and provides easy access to the camera both in the native app and in third-party apps such as Halide.
Mann found the new shutter button to be very useful, especially in challenging environments such as helicopter or low-angle shots.
For professional photographers, Mann recommends upgrading to the iPhone 16 Pro, especially if your current device has a Lightning port. The new USB-C provides faster charging, SSD capture for ProRes Log, and better compatibility with professional accessories.
The blogger also highlights the benefits of the new 48-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle and macro photography, as well as the speed of the A18 Pro chip, which provides a noticeable improvement in ProRAW shooting speed.
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max now have identical camera systems, making it easier to choose between them.
