Apple has announced several significant design and repair changes to the new iPhone 16 models, which should make it easier to maintain the devices. These updates apply to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Here's What's New About It

  • Simplified battery removal process - iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now have an easier way to remove the battery using an electric current.
  • TrueDepth camera configuration - you can now configure the TrueDepth Face ID camera on iPhone 12 and later without the need for a Mac.
  • TrueDepth camera versatility - TrueDepth camera modules can be swapped between any iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models.
  • LiDAR scanner repair - on iPhone 16 Pro models, you can now repair the LiDAR scanner along with the rear camera module.
  • iPhone 16 Pro interior - new internal design changes make it easier to access certain components.

All four iPhone 16 models will go on sale on Friday, 20 September. Detailed teardowns are expected to be released shortly after that, allowing for a better look at the internal structures of the new products.
