Not just PlayStation 6: insider information indicates Sony is developing two gaming devices at once
Following the unveiling of the PlayStation 5 Pro, rumours and speculation about a full-fledged next-generation PlayStation 6 console has intensified online.
Earlier this week, Reuters journalists reported that Sony had signed a multi-billion dollar contract with AMD to produce chips for the PlayStation 6, and now it has emerged that another gaming device could potentially be in development.
Here's What We Know
On the NEOgaf forum, a reputable whistleblower under the nickname Kepler2 claimed that Sony is currently working on two SoCs for the PlayStation at once.
He's not quite sure what this information is about yet, but suggests that it could be two home devices with different specs, like the Xbox Series X and S. Or perhaps the Japanese manufacturer is preparing to launch not only the PlayStation 6, but also a new handheld console, because nowadays both the demand for such devices is big, and the PlayStation Portal gadget is selling much better than analysts' expectations. In addition, there have long been rumours that Sony plans to return to the concept of PS Vita and release a full-fledged portable console, rather than a device focused on cloud gameplay, like Portal.
Insider Gaming's editorial team tried to confirm Kepler2's information through their own sources, but were unable to do so. Insider has not been previously seen spreading false information.
