Israeli president denies his country's involvement in pager bombing in Lebanon
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Tuesday that he "categorically rejects any connection" with the preparation of a remote detonation operation against pagers and radios in Lebanon.
Here's What We Know
"Hezbollah has quite a few enemies these days. "Hezbollah is strangling and destroying Lebanon, creating chaos in Lebanon over and over and over again. We are only here to defend ourselves - that's all we do," Herzog said.
He also added that there is now a possibility of a "dramatic escalation" between Israel and Hezbollah.
The situation on Israel's northern border has escalated following a series of explosions in Lebanon earlier this week. First, pagers and then walkie-talkies used by members of Hezbollah, an organisation designated as a terrorist group in the United States and several other countries, exploded.
The explosions killed about 40 people and injured about three thousand. "Hezbollah has accused Israel of involvement in these events, but Israeli authorities have neither confirmed nor denied these allegations.
