Star Wars Outlaws became the second best-selling game in Europe, while GTA V took the gold medal
We wrote that a total of 1.74 million video games were sold in the UK in August. Now we have data on sales in European countries.
Here's What We Know
In August, 11.8 million copies of games were sold in Europe, which is 7% more than in 2023.
Sales were boosted by discounts on old games such as Grand Theft Auto 5. Another factor was the launch of Star Wars Outlaws, which became the second best-selling game in August. However, the game received restrained reviews from players and critics.
However, little is known about Black Myth: Wukong, as there is no data on digital sales.
Other games that moved up in the August chart include Kingdom Come Deliverance, which was at No. 4 after the game's price dropped below £3 on Steam. Meanwhile, Borderlands 3 jumped up to No. 6 following the release of the film and the announcement of Borderlands 4.
As for consoles, just over 300,000 were sold, down 42% from August last year but up 12% from July.
