Insider: the postponement of Assassin's Creed Shadows will lead to an inevitable delay in the release of other games in the franchise, including the Black Flag remake

Yesterday, reputable insider Tom Henderson shared some interesting details about what made Ubisoft postpone the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows to February 2025 and what the extra time will be spent on.

He mentioned that in addition to the technical flaws, the company will change the game's story and narrative a bit, especially the elements that are related to the African samurai Yasuke.

Here's What We Know

Tom Henderson supplemented his article with a post at X. His sources are confident that the release of Shadows will definitely take place on the 14th of February and there will be no more postponements, but the need for additional work on the game will cause a shift in the release dates of other games in the franchise.

Henderson reminded about the upcoming projects:

  • Project Obsidian - a full remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag;
  • Project Invictus - a multiplayer Assassin's Creed game for casual audiences; the game is rumoured to be reminiscent of Fall Guys;
  • Project Hexe/Neo - the next full-fledged Assassin's Creed instalment set in a witch-hunt-era medieval Europe.

Henderson is confident that all of the above games will succeed, and in case of successful release of Black Flag remake, Ubisoft will release updated versions of other old parts of the series. The insider also has no doubt that the French publisher will be able to get out of the difficult financial and reputational situation and regain the trust of gamers and investors.

As a reminder, Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released on 14 February 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with the game being ported to iOS in the future. The game will be available on Steam on release day.
