Here's What We Know
Several flights, the longest of which lasted 16 and 22 hours, were launched from the company's premises at Stennis International Airport, located in Kiln, Mississippi.
The Skydweller is equipped with solar panels, so it can stay in the air for weeks and even months using solar energy.
The test campaign was initiated as part of the Joint Concept for Technology Demonstration (JCTD) of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defence for Research and Development (OUSD R&E). The test was also supported by the aviation unit of the US Navy Air Warfare Centre (NAWCAD).
"This flight test campaign is a major achievement and validates our business vision, marking a new era in autonomous aviation. Skydweller Aero is redefining the possibilities for the aerospace industry, and the data collected to prove our models are suitable for multi-day flights is a testament to the dedication and innovation of our team," said Robert Miller, CEO and co-founder of the company.
