Turkish company Aselsan has presented an interesting model of ground attack unmanned vehicle based on the ACV-15 BMP.

Here's What We Know

At the Teknofest-2024 exhibition, Aselsan showed the ZMA-X unmanned platform.

This heavy ground-based drone is based on the modernised ACV-15 infantry fighting vehicle and is equipped with a 25mm Nefer remote-controlled turret system. The vehicle is designed to support manned armoured vehicles, fire support for infantry, reconnaissance and logistics support. This is the third heavy ground drone from Aselsan, with the Shadow Rider and Alpar previously introduced.

The ZMA-X's main features are:

  • 25mm Nefer automatic cannon;
  • LIDAR system provides enhanced situational awareness;
  • additional armour plates for increased protection;
  • day and night visualisation systems, and a gyro-stabilised platform for precision firing.

Flashback

The ACV-15 is an amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) developed by Turkey's FNSS Savunma Sistemleri. It is designed to perform a variety of combat missions, including transporting infantry and supporting tanks in combat environments.

The ACV-15 weighs 14 tonnes and has a crew of 3 men and 8 paratroopers. The main armament is a 25mm automatic cannon and a 7.62mm machine gun.
