It was only recently, with the release of the new AirPods 4 and AirPods Max, that Apple switched its wireless headphones to the USB-C port. Engineer Ken Pillonel took care of the older Lightning models and came up with a special accessory for them.

Details

It's a case that allows you to charge AirPods with Lightning through the USB-C port. Essentially, it just has an inbuilt Lightning to USB-C adapter.

The case doesn't work on its own, it needs to be put on the original charging case with Lightning.

Incidentally, Apple sells a USB-C case for the 2nd generation AirPods Pro equipped with a Lightning connector. However, it costs $99. Ken's case, on the other hand, costs around $40 and is available not only for AirPods Pro 2, but also for AirPods 1, 2 and 3, as well as the original AirPods Pro.

On top of that, it has a solution for AirPods Max, a small USB-C adapter that fits perfectly over the Lightning connector.
