Samsung's new Galaxy Chromebook Plus comes in a new version with an Intel Core 5 120U chip

Last week, Samsung, in partnership with Google, unveiled the new Galaxy Chromebook Plus. The device was originally equipped with an Intel Core 3 100U (Raptor Lake-R) processor, but Samsung's UK site has now revealed an improved version with a more powerful Intel Core 5 120U chip.

Here's What We Know

The Galaxy Chromebook Plus is light and thin, and is already available from Samsung's online shops in several countries. In the UK, the laptop with the more powerful chip is not yet on sale, but the description pages are already active.

The new version with the Intel Core 5 120U processor has a base frequency of 1.4GHz and can be overclocked to 5.0GHz, while the Core 3 100U runs from 1.2GHz to 4.7GHz. The cache size has also been increased from 10MB to 12MB. The rest of the specs remain unchanged with Intel Graphics, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of inbuilt eUFS storage.

In performance tests, the Core 5 120U shows significant improvement in multitasking, but not much difference in single-core tests. Battery life is expected to remain at 13 hours. The new Galaxy Chromebook Plus with Core 5 processor is available only on Samsung's UK website for now. But it could arrive in other markets at any time.
