The Joker sequel grossed only $7 million in its second weekend in the US, down 81% from the first week
We wrote that the Joker sequel grossed only $40 million in the US over the first weekend. However, the situation became even worse on the second weekend.
Here's What We Know
In the US, the film grossed only $7 million in its second weekend, and its box office dropped by 81%, the worst performance of any DC film ever released in cinemas.
Internationally, the film grossed $32 million, and in the first week it was $81 million.
The sequel costs $200 million (the first film was made for $65 million). So, according to analysts familiar with the film's finances, Joker: Madness for Two needs to raise at least $450 million to break even. So far, the film has grossed $165 million.
However, at this rate, it's hard to say whether the film will be able to get close to the 400+ million figure.
