Midjourney will unveil a new tool for editing any image using AI

Midjourney has announced the release of an updated web tool that will allow users to edit any uploaded images using generative artificial intelligence. The new tool, which will be available as early as next week, will give users the ability to change the texture of objects in images, redrawing their colours and details to match the captions.

Here's What We Know

Midjourney CEO David Holtz said that a limited number of users will have access to the tool initially, and that moderation will be enhanced with both humans and advanced AI moderators. This is to prevent abuses such as dipfakes and copyright infringement.

Last year, Midjourney implemented the IPTC Digital Source Type standard to indicate that images were generated by AI. However, the company does not yet use C2PA technology, which tracks the full provenance of an image. With dipfakes on the rise, Midjourney is taking steps to limit their distribution, including filters for political figures.
