France to transfer 12 additional self-propelled Caesar artillery units to Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The BFMTV news and analysis website reported, citing the words of French Armed Forces Minister Sebastien Lecornu, that the purchase of additional Caesar self-propelled artillery systems was financed with the money received from frozen Russian assets. In total, France has returned 300 million euros in interest from frozen Russian assets.
This money will also be enough to purchase additional 155 mm artillery shells, Aster-30 anti-aircraft missiles, AASM aerial precision bombs and Mistral man-portable surface-to-air missile systems along with new missiles.
The French Defence Ministry stressed that 67 cannons have been handed over to Ukraine since the beginning of 2022. According to the plan, this number will increase to 80 by the end of 2024.
