Samsung has no plans to release more affordable versions of foldable smartphones anytime soon
Samsung has confirmed that it has no plans to release a budget version of its Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip series of foldable smartphones anytime soon.
Here's What We Know
Earlier, there were rumours of a Galaxy Fold FE model being developed that was supposed to be released alongside the Galaxy Fold 6, but that didn't happen. However, the company recently unveiled another, more expensive and limited version of the Galaxy Fold 6 - the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, but a company spokesperson says that Samsung has no plans to create cheaper foldable smartphones for now.
"Rather than thinking of [Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition] as a premium product, it’s a product released to expand your options. You can choose according to your taste. As of now, we have no plans to release a separate product with a lower price."
But that doesn't mean Samsung won't release cheaper foldable devices at all. The popularity of such models is growing and perhaps Samsung will soon revisit the idea of releasing more affordable foldable smartphones. This is quite expected as competitors from China continue to offer cheaper alternatives, which puts additional pressure on Samsung.
Thus, fans of foldable devices from Samsung will have to wait for some more time before a more affordable model is available.
