Lithuania invests EUR 10 million in production of long-range drone missile "Palyanytsia"
Lithuania's Deputy Minister of National Defence Monika Koroliovienė says that Lithuania has agreed to finance the production of a Ukrainian drone missile following the Danish model.
Here's What We Know
Lithuania is ready to invest in Ukraine's long-range weapons, in particular in Palianytsia drone missiles, which are actually cruise missiles. It is assumed that these drones could have attacked Russian ammunition depots on 18 September.
To clarify, these "drones" are capable of covering a distance of up to 750 km and are equipped with a turbojet engine that can reach speeds of 500 to 950 km/h.
The practical application and ways of implementing the funding were discussed between representatives of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian defence ministries. It is likely that more detailed agreements will be approved during the visit of Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurinas Kasciunas, who is expected in the near future.
Ukraine's Deputy Defence Minister Serhiy Boyev assured that "investments based on the Danish model will work much faster, and the enemy will soon see the results."
As a reminder, Denmark has allocated $174 million for the production of the Ukrainian Bohdan air defence system. In addition, the country plans to purchase $190 million worth of Ukrainian weapons using frozen Russian assets.
