Impossible to argue with: IGN journalists recognise Silent Hill 2 as the best horror game in video game history
IGN portal compiled the top 25 best horror games in the history of video games, and we are sure that the leader will not surprise most gamers - it was Silent Hill 2.
Here's What We Know
The 2001 game from the long-closed studio Team Silent is regularly held up as an example of how to make deep, philosophical and multifaceted games. Silent Hill 2 raises themes of sin, transgression, punishment, suffering, self-abuse, contempt for oneself and others, and does it all subtly, through metaphors and intricate allusions.
IGN noted that Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 remake also deserves nothing but praise, but believes the original is far more important to video game history.
And in second place was not the original version of the cult game, but its 2019 remake - we are talking about Resident Evil 2. Journalists believe that Capcom not only masterfully updated the horror, but also brought it to a qualitatively different level, without departing from the original concept.
The third place was given to the famous horror Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which shows how the main character sinks deeper into his own madness and despair.
Among the best horror games are such famous representatives of the genre as Dead Space, Alien: Isolation, Outlast SOMA, several parts of Resident Evil 2 and Alan Wake 2.
