Apple and Samsung are considering buying Intel: how could this affect customers?

According to recent reports, Samsung and Apple are considering an acquisition by Intel, which could have a significant impact on the smartphone market. With the push for thinner and more powerful devices, the companies are looking for ways to improve their chipsets.

Here's What We Know

Today's flagship smartphones use 3nm chipsets, but even more compact solutions are needed to further improve performance in thin devices. Apple has already reserved all shipments of 2nm chips from TSMC for the near future, while Samsung aims to create its own 1.4nm chipsets by 2027, but it has so far encountered difficulties in the process.

Acquiring Intel would allow the companies to control chipset production and avoid supply disruptions, leading to more stable annual releases and likely higher prices as the companies would be able to set their own prices.

If Apple succeeds in acquiring Intel and producing its own cellular modems, it could lead to record profits. If Samsung succeeds, it will be able to equip all of its devices with Exynos chips, improving their performance and power efficiency, which will help it avoid criticism.
