Sales of Yakuza Kiwami on Nintendo Switch far exceed developers' expectations
The Yakuza/Like a Dragon series finally made its debut on Nintendo Switch with the recent release of Yakuza Kiwami. According to the developer, Ryu Ga Gotoku, after years of high demand, the Switch version of the game quickly launched in sales.
Here's What We Know
During a recent livestream, studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama said that Yakuza Kiwami is "selling like hotcakes" on the platform, with actual sales far exceeding the company's initial expectations.
Given the long-standing demand for Yakuza on Switch, its early success is not surprising. The question now is how well sales will continue and whether this can pave the way for more Yakuza/Like a Dragon titles on the platform.
Promising early numbers will likely encourage Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega to consider further releases.
