Apple's new M4 iMac: the first Mac to support 8K external displays at 120Hz

Apple has unveiled a new iMac powered by the M4 chip. Although its design has not changed much, it has received an important new feature - support for 8K video output at 120 Hz for compatible displays.

Here's What We Know

Thanks to the updated specifications, the new iMac can output to two external displays at 6K 60Hz or one 8K 120Hz display. This is the first Mac to support this configuration. Other models that support 8K are limited to 60Hz.

However, it's worth noting that 8K 120Hz is only available on iMacs with a 10-core GPU. The entry-level 8-core model supports only one 6K display at 60Hz.

In addition to the new chip, the iMac will also come with 16GB of RAM, a new camera with Centre Stage, and updated colour options. Prices for the new iMac start at $1,299, and pre-orders are already open.

The new products are expected to go on sale on 8 November.
