Due to the growing threats posed by authoritarian dictatorships, many countries have urgently started to develop new weapons and modernise existing weapons.

Last week, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced the development of a new model of Taurus ballistic missile, and now the first details of the Taurus Neo project have been revealed.

Here's What We Know

Army Recognition analysts report that the missile range should exceed 500 kilometres, and the cost of the project to produce 600 units is estimated at 2.1 billion euros.

The main objective of the Taurus Neo project was to improve the Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missile and primarily to increase its range and accuracy, as well as to increase its strike capability.

The Taurus Neo will receive a new guidance system that will combine inertial and GPS navigation. The modified missile will be equipped with a reinforced warhead, which is designed to defeat powerful fortifications, including bunkers and underground warehouses.

Importantly, the missile will have the ability to bypass missile defence systems, which will allow it to strike even the most protected targets.

Military analysts are confident that the development of the Taurus Neo will not only increase Germany's defence capabilities, but will also play an important role in joint European initiatives.
