Nothing is mulling the launch of its own operating system
At the TechCrunch Disrupt 2024 conference, Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei said that the company is considering creating its own operating system.
Here's What We Know
Pei noted that smartphones are the most important means of communication and information, and expressed dissatisfaction with the dominance of Google and Apple in the mobile OS market. According to him, creating its own OS will not only allow Nothing to stand out in the market, but also create a new source of revenue. Pei stressed that OS development has become easier thanks to the development of artificial intelligence, which will offer users a higher level of customisation.
He also noted that the company does not plan to work on the basic layers of the OS, such as drivers and kernel, but will focus on improving the user interface. Pei added that despite possible difficulties with funding, the project will progress as AI is only a tool, and the key to success will be user satisfaction.
