Japanese company VAIO announced its latest laptop models SX14-R and Pro PK-R, equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors on Meteor Lake architecture.
Here's What We Know
The SX14-R is aimed at mainstream consumers and offers Core Ultra 5 125H or Core Ultra 7 155H processors, 16GB to 64GB of LPDDR5x RAM, and PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs ranging from 256GB to 2TB. Displays are available in 14-inch screen options with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels or a touchscreen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels.
The Pro PK-R laptop is aimed at business users and offers a wider selection of Core Ultra processors, including 125U, 135U, 165U and 155H models. Some configurations include touch displays with active styluses for precise input. Both laptops weigh less than a kilogram and feature Thunderbolt 4, HDMI and Ethernet ports.
The new models stand out with an improved microphone system and VAIO Conversation software, which gives you a choice: the microphones can capture sound in a 360-degree radius or focus on a 90 or 40-degree angle for more private conversations. Also present in the new products is VAIO User Sensing, which can switch off the display when the user steps away from the laptop, or alert them if the device notices someone looking at the screen over the user's shoulder.
The laptops support WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, while the SX14-R model additionally features WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Prices for the laptops start at ¥259,800 ($1,698) for the SX14-R and ¥304,200 ($1,988) for the Pro PK-R. They are currently only available in Japan.
