Global tablet sales jumped more than 20 per cent, with Apple continuing to lead the segment
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), global tablet shipments reached 39.6 million units in the third quarter of 2024, up 20.4 per cent year-on-year.

Apple remains the market leader with 12.6 million tablets shipped, up 1.4 per cent from a year earlier. Samsung took second place with 7.1 million units sold, showing an 18.3 per cent increase, thanks to the success of the Galaxy Tab A9 series. Amazon came in third place with 4.6 million tablets shipped and an impressive 111.3 per cent growth due to strong demand for Amazon Prime Day.
Huawei also performed well, shipping 3.3 million tablets, up 44.1 per cent year-on-year. Lenovo rounded out the top five with 3 million devices sold and 14.7 per cent growth. Analysts note that the growth in tablet sales is due to increased demand for devices for work and entertainment.
