Gemini gets Google Home integration: lighting and climate control are already available, but support for cameras and locks is still limited
This month, Google officially introduced the Google Home extension for Gemini. Gemini can now directly control smart devices through the Google Home app, which is available for Android users in Public Preview.
Here's What We Know
Google Home integration allows Gemini to respond faster and execute commands in natural language. For example, you can ask: "Get the bedroom ready for bed," and Gemini will activate the robot vacuum cleaner, or "Get the dining room ready for dinner," and it will automatically dim the lights and play the appropriate music.
Previously, commands had to be sent via Google Assistant, but now Gemini has direct integration. It currently supports controlling lighting, climate control, and multimedia devices, but it does not yet work with cameras and locks.
How To Switch It On
To take advantage of the new feature, you can join the Google Home Public Preview programme.
