Pixel 9 Pro components cost $406: significantly cheaper than iPhone 16 Pro

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is significantly cheaper to manufacture than the iPhone 16 Pro, according to a new report from Japan that reveals the bill of materials (BOM) for both smartphones.

The estimated cost of the Pixel 9 Pro components is $406, while the iPhone 16 Pro's cost is $568.

The cost of components for the Pixel 9 Pro is 11% lower than for the Pixel 8 Pro due to the smaller size of the new phone, including a smaller screen and battery. The cost of iPhone 16 Pro components increased by 6% compared to the previous model.

In particular, the iPhone chipset costs $135, the display costs $110, and the camera components cost $91. In Pixel 9 Pro, the chipset cost $80, the display $75, and the camera $61. Both smartphones will start at $999.
