The European concern KNDS will supply the first RCH 155 to Ukraine in early 2025
KNDS Deutschland CEO Ralf Koetzel said that they plan to deliver the first RCH 155 wheeled self-propelled artillery systems no earlier than April 2025.
Here's What We Know
Answering a journalist's question about the development of the newest 155 mm RCH 155 self-propelled artillery system and its need for the Bundeswehr, the leaders of the German-French company said that the company is currently producing the system for Ukraine and another foreign customer.
The Director General of the German branch added that KNDS plans to deliver the system to Ukraine in April 2025.
"Yes, we are producing a wheeled howitzer for Ukraine and for another international customer. And we hope to get a contract for the Bundeswehr soon. Initially, it will be about 80 vehicles. We will deliver the first systems to Ukraine in April next year," he explained.
As a reminder, Ukraine's plans to purchase RCH 155 for its artillery arsenal were announced on 17 September 2022.
For those who don't know
The RCH 155 (Remote Controlled Howitzer) is a German self-propelled artillery system with an automated fire control system. It is based on a 155-mm howitzer mounted on the chassis of a Boxer armoured wheeled vehicle. This mobile platform allows it to perform support tasks at a considerable distance and quickly change position after firing. The RCH 155 is equipped with an automatic loading system, which means that it does not require manual handling during firing. The range is up to 52 km, depending on the type of projectile.
