Metal Slug Tactics reimagines the series as a turn-based tactical RPG. Players can choose from a variety of team characters, including the P.F. Squad and the newly introduced Ikari Warriors. By placing characters close together, teams can perform powerful synchronised attacks, while strategic repositioning unlocks unique abilities.

Metal Slug Tactics also includes rogue elements, allowing players to upgrade weapons and skills at outposts during the campaign - but if a squad is destroyed, it all starts over.
