Galaxy S23 owners face Dolby Atmos sound degradation after upgrading to One UI 6.1.1

Some users of Galaxy S23 series smartphones have experienced a deterioration in sound quality after installing the One UI 6.1.1 update. According to them, the sound became "tinny and blurry", whereas before it was "clear and punchy".

Here's What We Know

Samsung initially denied the problem, but after numerous complaints, it acknowledged its existence and said it was working on a solution. The company said in a statement that the problem was due to an update to the Dolby Atmos library from version 3.10 to 3.12, which was aimed at improving the 360 Audio feature but affected other aspects of the audio.

A message from Samsung's support team with an explanation

Samsung said that Dolby is already aware of the issue and plans to release an updated Dolby Atmos library to fix the problem, but the exact timing of the update is still unknown. The fix was expected to arrive with the November security update, but that didn't happen.
