YouTube is testing a new gesture control in its Android app that you probably won't like

YouTube has started testing gesture changes in its Android app, but it's getting mixed reviews from users.

Here's What We Know

The swipe down gesture in full-screen mode for long videos will now play the next video, as it does in YouTube Shorts. This change aims to unify the app's behaviour for short and long videos, but disrupts users' usual muscle memory.

Many people prefer to use gestures to exit full-screen mode, and the new behaviour could make it harder to watch long videos. While the button to exit full-screen mode remains, users find gestures more convenient, especially on larger devices.

So far, this change is not available on all devices, and there is no official documentation or changelog to support it. YouTube continues to look for ways to improve user interaction, but these changes aren't always met with a positive response.
