Up to 400 kW per vehicle: ABB E-Mobility has installed the first A400 HPC charging station in North America

ABB E-Mobility has commissioned its first A400 All-in-One charging station in North America. The new 400-kilowatt station has been installed at the ITD Industries facility in the Etobicoke neighbourhood of Toronto, Canada.

ABB says the station will provide unique data for real-world testing of the A400, supporting the operations of ITD Industries, a company that sells electric vehicles including Nikola trucks.

Here's What We Know

The new ABB A400 charging station, introduced in May this year, is capable of charging two vehicles with 200kW each or a single vehicle with up to 400kW. The station has relatively compact dimensions of 2.3 x 0.8 x 0.8 metres, covers an area of 0.64 square metres and is equipped with 4.8 metres of cables. Control is via a 32-inch screen and payment is via an inbuilt card reader.

In comparison, the Tesla Supercharger V3 and V4 support charging up to 250kW per vehicle.

The co-operation with ABB, according to ITD Industries COO Philip Turi, will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the Canadian trucking industry and provide their customers with the most reliable fast charging solution.
