Apple releases Final Cut Pro 11: Magnetic Mask to highlight people and objects, automatic subtitles, and spatial video support for Mac and iPad
Apple has released a new version of its video editing software Final Cut Pro 11, which is the first update in 13 years.
Here's What We Know
This update includes new features for working with video, including improved support for M-series chips.
One of the main new features is the Magnetic Mask tool, which uses artificial intelligence to highlight people and objects in a video without the need for a green screen. This makes it easier to work with backgrounds and effects, giving you more control over your projects.
There is support for haptic feedback for the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard.
iPhone 16 Pro users can record 4K video at 120fps for smoother cinematic slow motion and then import it into Final Cut Pro for iPad for editing.
Another feature is Transcribe to Captions, which automatically generates subtitles for video using the Apple model for audio analysis. Support has also been added for editing spatial video, which can be imported from the new iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, or Canon R7 cameras.
Other new features include new effects, modular transitions, improvements for vertical video, and integration with Vision Pro for spatial video editing.
Final Cut Pro 11 is available for download for $299.99 for Mac and $4.99 per month or $49 per year for iPad. The upgrade is available for free to existing users.
