Acura ADX: the new SUV looks stylish and features a small turbo engine

The Acura brand has a new compact SUV in its range - the ADX. This baby will be available in the U.S. in early 2025 and ranks a notch below the RDX in the lineup, offering sleek styling, a smart interior and a fuel-efficient turbo engine.

Dimensions, engine and roominess

The Acura ADX is 185.8 inches (4,719 mm) long and 63.8 inches (1,620 mm) tall, slightly longer than the Honda HR-V on which it's based. The ADX has 22.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 55.1 cubic feet with the first row folded flat. That's slightly less than the RDX, but practical enough for a small SUV.

Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre turbo engine with a four-cylinder VTEC system and a CVT transmission. Specifications of the engine are not yet disclosed, but according to preliminary estimates, it should develop about 200 hp. In the standard version, the car is front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an option, which can send up to 50 per cent of power to the rear wheels. In addition, owners get four standard driving modes (Snow, Comfort, Normal, and Sport) and the option of customisations on top-end packages.

Design and equipment

The ADX visually resembles a smaller version of the RDX or MDX. The front end features signature LED daytime running lights and a frameless Diamond Pentagon grille. The base model is fitted with 18-inch wheels, while the A-Spec and A-Spec Advance versions get 19-inch wheels.

In the cabin of the A-Spec version you will be met with ventilated front seats, panoramic roof, truncated steering wheel and a bunch of other "little things" for comfort. Top-end equipment with Advance package adds heated steering wheel, Bang & Olufsen audio system with 15 speakers, Google Built-In services with Alexa voice assistant and 12-position driver's seat with lumbar support.

For the convenience of all passengers, the ADX features a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, 5G Wi-Fi, and the full AcuraWatch safety package.

How Much Do They Cost?

Acura has yet to reveal the exact price of the ADX, but noted that the new model will start arriving at dealers in early 2025 with a price range "in the mid-$30,000s."
